Electron pair emission from surfaces: Some general experimental considerations

چکیده
We discuss some experimental facets of electron pair emission from surfaces using two different approaches. In the first case instrument consists a hemispherical analyzers which are operated with continuous primary beams electrons or photons. The second employs time-of-flight spectrometers require pulsed excitation source. A key quantity is ratio ‘true’ to ‘random’ coincidences can be determined in ways. Regardless type flux has adopt much smaller value than single spectroscopy. describe approaches obtain relevant count rates, particular concept operating delayed coincidence circuit. also address question on how compare types spectrometer terms their performance.

Experimental Studies on Grooved Surfaces to Suppress Secondary Electron Emission
Grooved surfaces are effective to suppress the secondary electron emission, and can be a promising technique to mitigate the electron cloud effect in positron/proton storage rings. Aiming for the application in a dipole-type magnetic field, various shapes of triangular grooved surfaces have been studied at KEK. The grooves tested here have vertex angles of 20−30°, depths of 2.5−5.0 mm, and vert...

متن کاملImaging electron emission from diamond and III–V nitride surfaces with photo-electron emission microscopy
Ž . Wide bandgap semiconductors such as diamond and the III–V nitrides GaN, AlN, and AlGaN alloys exhibit small or even negative electron affinities. Results have shown that different surface treatments will modify the electron affinity of Ž . diamond to cause a positive or negative electron affinity NEA . This study describes the characterization of these surfaces Ž . with photo-electron emiss...

متن کاملVibrationally promoted electron emission from low work-function metal surfaces.
We observe electron emission when vibrationally excited NO molecules with vibrational state v, in the range of 9 < or = v < or =18, are scattered from a Cs-dosed Au surface. The quantum efficiency increases strongly with v, increasing up to 10(-2) electrons per NO (v) collision, a value several orders of magnitude larger than that observed in experiments with similar molecules in the ground vib...
